It starts with two pages of history of the school and music program. Printed on a yellow-cream colored paper with brown ink, this has a variety of traditional recipes and some I've never heard of, such as Oatmeal Soup. I alsoliked the French Potatoes done Hungarian style, which takes Polish sausage! Great cookbook. The pages has a slight curve from storage, and there is alittle wear at the edges and spine. Quiz, the Question Bee Game of General Information. #3933, copyright 1939,Whitman Publishing Co. Inside there are 70 small orange cards with trivia questions and answers. There are no instructions. All of the cards are in good shape except one. The box has wear on the edges and has been liberally colored with pencils and ink by some child, and decorated with his or her artwork on the back. The dress sketched out looks like it's from about 50 or60 years ago. The box is about 5 1/2 x 6 x 1/2 inches, and is about one inch tall.

This small ink blotter is a sort of combination book mark, calendar, rulerand war charity. It has calendar months for the last three months of 1945 plus January of 1946. It is from the Denver Area War Chest and the words say"Be Generous in Victory. The war is won but needs continue. Give support of our Armed Forces, Suffering Allies, Our Own at Home! Victory Campaign Goal $1,503,000." It is blue on the reverse side. 2 x 6 inches long. World WarII Colorado collectible! In good shape except for slight wear at corners.Red on white, which is yellowing slightly.

Bulletin Number 3 Colors 1948 Kaiser-Frazer. This is a small booklet put out by E.I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company April 15, 1948. It is little paint/enamel samples for repainting cars and is only 5 pages. With it is a one page Bulletin 1 of 1947 Kaiser-Frazer colors, issued October 16, 1946. It has a more limited range of color samples. 1950 Champlin Motor Oil map, Colorado ?

A great old road map of Colorado, put out by Champlin Motor Oil HI-V-I Heavy Duty Oil, made in Enid, Oklahoma. This map is from the later part of the1950's. This estimate is based on the style of cars featured and that the information on one chart is taken from the 1950 census. The map is in good condition, slightly yellowing and with wear at the folds, but with no splits. There are pin hole spots where two folds come together. The map has the USA on one side and Colorado on the other, with many fact boxes and road warnings. It is 18 x 29 inches when open all the way and would be great as a gift, or in a frame. Some people use old maps for scrapbooking or vacation memory books.

1953 Shamrock Highway Map, Southwest US ?

This is an old Shamrock road map. The Highway Map is of Texas, New Mexico,Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Wyoming. The picture on the front is of a cowboy scene, with horses big and western skies. On one panel is "The Heraldry of the Range" by J. Evetts Haley, about an essay aboutbrands, 11 paragraphs long. The map is 19 x 36 inches, and is yellowing. It has wear on the edges of all folds and in some places where two folds meet it has worn through, making a significant hole, with the worst of it being a split about an half an inch long. I think it was badly folded at leastonce, as the edges of the folds are not sharp and crisp. There are also panels on points of interest in the west and a list of radio stations. I thinkit is from 1953 due to a tiny 53 on the bottom of one side. There are mathor numbers in four places as the former owner tried to figure out gas andmileage, a name on the front, "Lash." The map is in red and green ink, withsome pink, on white. It is in bad enough shape you wouldn't feel bad taking it apart for scrapbooking or vacation memory books, but it might also look good framed.

Something Special. The Navy Life. This is a recruitment brochure from 1971.It is 5 1/4 x 8 1/4 inches, 18 pages, paper cover, staple bound. The covers have wear and rubs and there is a slight bend in the pages at the top right hand side. The book tells all the reasons to join the navy (they suggestseeing the world = meeting girls!) and has pages in the back describing who can be a Navy man and a Navy Wave. It is stamped twice with the La Junta,Colorado recruiting office stamp and an authenticating stamp stating Reviewed and Approved 1 November 1971 Captain D.E. Oglevee, USRN. It has general information on weather and advice how to behave in tornados and other bad weather.(Hopefully NOT when someone has been over-sampling their fine product....)Staple bound, 10 pages, 4 1/2 x 10 inches, in black and red ink on white.The maps that go into the back flap are gone. It is in good shape except for the obvious curl and crease from improper storage. Also, there is a listof dates hand written on the back. Nice bit of Coors advertising, probablyfrom the late 50's or early 60's. I can't find a date, so can't state it for sure.

Duxbax Hunting Gear tin sign, with English Setter! ?

This is a good quality pressed tin reproduction of a classic Utica Duxbak Corp. hunting scene sign. It shows a man out after (I think) pheasant with his faithful English Setter standing by. The man, the dog and the logo are pressed so they are raised up for a 3-D effect. I peeled the protective plastic cover off this sign to get a better picture, and have been careful withit since, so it is in excellent condition. Measures about 16" x 12", withholes punched in each corner so it can be displayed.

There are also ads for Bicycle cards, which made me really want the playing cards withthe deco designs on them! The book is printed by the U.S. Playing Card Company of Cincinnati. It is 4 1/2 inches times 7 1/4 inches in size and has agreat vintage picture on the cover. The book covers the rules of bridge asthey were then, plus special forms such as duplicate bridge and progressiveauction. These seem to be aimed at women and focuses on health, self improvement, and psychology, although it doesn't call it that. The issues are the Januaryand the February. About 125 pages each, 5 1/2 inches x 8 inches. The articles are short, usually only 2 to 6 pages, and written in a style to appeal to the general public. It was probably fairly forward-thinking for its day,and in one of them it even says, "Have you ever seen the look on the face of a man when he expected to get hell and didn't?" Anyway, articles include:How to Win People, Why Should He Marry You?, Ways to Outwit Your Habits, Don't Keep Him in the Doghouse, How to Talk on Your Feet, When Hernia Strikes, Are you SURE it's God's Will?, Failure and Success ate Habits, Grade Your Sex Traits, Needless Terrors of Heart Disease, I Know Why Girls Go Wrong,Test How You Talk, The Art of Relaxation, plus many more. My favorite is Nice Parents Are Pathetic. Authors include Hildegard Dolson, Walter Pitkin,Dr. James W. Barton, Kathleen Norris, Margery Wilson, and many others. A few brain teasers, tests, drama reviews and jokes are scattered here and there. It makes pretty good reading even today, not bad for a magazine over 60years old! The characters include dogs Rex and Skip, the duck Waddles, the pony Candy, Clip Clop the donkey, and kids Billy, Jane, Judy, and Ann. The illustrations are vintage and cute. Thisis a reading copy or a place holder for a collector, as the cover has someripples and three corners are torn off interior pages. None of the text orpictures seem to be lost. The paper is slightly yellowed, the binding is loose and there are the names of several former owners in the front as wellas a school bookplate. The stories and pictures are cute but the values area little old fashioned.

This booklet was from the Army Signal School and Technical School for Electrical Engineering. Feldafing was apparently the site of the barracks, in the Barvarian Alps near Munich. It was issued by the US Army to give the soldiers stationed there maps and a guide book for their spare time. No year given, but it looks as if it was from the mid 1970's. It is either printed orxeroxed. It's 8 x 6 inches with cover stock, staple bound with book tape binding. The maps are complete and it was nicely kept. There are lots of pictures of the local scenery.
